How to get to flower market Road
Being near the centre of Kowloon, located midway between Jordan and Yau Ma Tei MTR stations, the market is very accessable by public transport. However as this is a night market do be aware that when leaving the market very late at night some forms of transport will be closed.
The last MTR train to leave the nearby Jordan MTR Station is at 00:52am. While normal routes such as 112 stop at 00:30am. However there are night buses such as the N122 which run throughout the night.
Here are the directions to flower market from some common locations.
Flower Market Road from Nathan Road
Nathan Road is one of the longest roads in Kowloon, and if you are starting from the northern end then the Flower Market is actually just five minutes walk along Prince Edward road going east.
However for most people who find themselves at the southern end of the Nathan Road, the so-called Golden Mile of hotels and shops, then the market road is out of practical walking distance. instead consider taking the MTR train.
MTR
The MTR or Mass Transit Railway is the underground railway system in Hong Kong and one of the best ways to get just about anywhere, it is clean, fast, cheap and very safe. With all signage in English there is no difficulty for tourists and visitors to Hong Kong in using this system.
To reach Flower Market Road via the MTR on Nathan Road enter at any of the prominently signposted entrances, probably into either Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station which is at the far south of Kowloon, or via the Jordan MTR Station which is next along the line. Both of these stations are on the Tsuen Wan Line, so named as that is the major stop at the end of the line.
Beware and avoid the East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, which is an entirely different line.
Take the train northwards and exit from the Prince Edward MTR Station, use exit B1 to come out onto Prince Edward Road West.
When you reach the road level turn immediately 180 degrees to face the MTR entrance, then go along the right side of the entrance to walk along Prince Edward Road, walking East. The first thing you pass will be the Mong Kok Police Station on your left, while to the right and above you is the elevated roadway.
Continue on for 3 blocks, and then even before having reached the Flower Market road you will know you are approaching it because of the large number of florists shops which congregate here, overflowing from the market road proper. After the 3rd block turn left into Sai Yee Street, and then immediately right into Flower Market Road.
But actually the whole area, including Sai Yee Street, and the part of Prince Edward Road nearby, is part of the extended Flower market, so do explore the area to see the most.
Flower Market Road from Causeway Bay or Central
If you are staying on Hong Kong Island, anywhere from Central through to Causeway Bay, or have visited there for the shopping, then consider two good ways to reach Flower Market Road, via Bus and via MTR. If you are in Causeway Bay then the Bus is a good option, while for those in Central or Wan Chai either Bus or MTR are good choices.
Bus
Take the New World First Bus / City Bus route #113, which is a fast modern airconditioned bus on which you can pay the fare by coins, notes or by octopus. Please note no change is given on Hong Kong busses so an Octopus card is highly recommended.
Bus 113 can be caught in Causeway Bay at Canal Road West, just behind the Times Square shopping arcade. In the Central business district same bus can be caught from the Douglas Street stop on Des Voeux Road, a very convenient location just outside the Wing Lung Bank.
The ride is 14 stops from Central, or 7 stops from Causeway Bay, and will take about 45 minute or 20 minutes respectively, though this depends a lot no the time of day as the cross harbour tunnel is subject to congestion during rush hour.
Alight from the bus at the Embankment Road stop and walk backwards along the road until you reach the corner with the traffic lights. Across the road and above you can be seen the Royal Plaza hotel, but turn right underneath the bridge and walk a few paces to the next corner.
This then is the beginning of the Flower Market area as can be seen by the florists on the corner. Turn into Yuen Po Street with the Bird Garden on your right, and flower shops on your left. At the end of the road it turns left into Flower Market Road proper.
MTR
Get on the MTR at Causeway Bay Station, or Central Station and take the island line towards Admiralty. There change to the Tsuen Wan Line, and follow the instructions as above for MTR.
Flower Market from the Airport
Want to visit the flower market while on a layover at Chep Lap Kok airport? It's possible, but a long trip. And remember you can't take plants or flowers with you on your flight, but seeds are probably ok. Check with your airline first.
Train
Take the Airport Express train from the platform which is inside the arrivals area of the airport. It is a fast train all the way to Central but you should get off at Kowloon Station. Outside the station find the green minibus station and take number 74. Get off outside the Queen Elizabeth School and you are just two minutes walk from the flower market.
Bus
Alternatively try the bus number E21 and get off at the Mong Kok police station. Continue walking along the road half a block until you can turn right into Prince Edward road. Then follow the walking instructions as per the MTR section above.
